19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev secured his initial championship for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging year, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden championship since the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from March of 2023.

The win also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six championship matches, comprising in that event previously this season.

His counter-punching strategy and regular reactions on court had prompted observers to doubt if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the concluding five points to go ahead.

Both players traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour title, took control to force a decider.

He rescued four early break points in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner earned the win with a point at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
